Wood Stove Buying Guide Header

If you are looking for a durable hearth option to heat your home for a lifetime, you may want to consider looking at our selection of wood stoves. Our wood stoves provide a warm and comforting atmosphere for your home or cabin, but it may be challenging to determine if a wood stove is a right fit for you and your space. We have created this buying guide to help you determine if a wood-burning stove is what you need to upgrade your home.

Wood Stoves are an Efficient Heat Source

Simply put, wood-burning stoves are a long-term home investment. Although they can be pricey, they can help you save money in the long run by reducing energy costs to heat your living space throughout the cold winter months. Additionally, our wood stoves are designed to withstand the test of time and provide warmth to your home for many years, saving you even more in the long run.

Wood Stoves Provide Considerable Heating Power

The heating power of a wood stove is what sets it apart from a traditional fireplace, which means these units are more than capable of providing enough heat to your main living space during the winter.

With its high-efficiency ratings and ability to produce much more heat and fewer emissions, a wood-burning stove is a true heating powerhouse. Because of this, it is important to choose the right size stove. If your wood-burning stove is too big, your space will get too hot, and if the stove is too small you’ll find yourself huddled around it for warmth. Furthermore, the location of your wood stove is key to getting the most out of your unit. It’s best to place your stove in a well-insulated room on the main floor of your home to get the most efficient results.

Wood Stoves are Simple to Install

Because wood-burning stoves don't require an existing chimney or wall framing to install, it makes them an excellent choice for upgrading spaces like a cabin or lodge. You may have to sacrifice some floor space to accommodate them, but the low-maintenance installation is worth the space it takes to have a wood stove in your home. Wood-burning stoves are an excellent option for adding the ambiance of a wood flame without the trouble of installing an entire fireplace.

Tax Credit for Wood Burning Stoves

With the signing of the Inflation Reduction Act, high-efficiency biomass heating products qualify for a 30% tax credit, which is available for appliances installed between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2032. The bill defines high-efficiency products as any solid fuel stove or fireplace with an EPA-certified efficiency rating of 75% or higher. The tax credit can be used on the purchase and installation costs of qualifying appliances. Reach out to our team to determine if your stove qualifies.

Wood Stove or Pellet Stove?

Very similar to a wood-burning stove is the pellet-burning stove. The pellet stove gets its name from the environmentally friendly pellets used as fuel. These stoves feature a hopper system that constantly feeds a flame and requires little adjustment, making them an excellent source of heat.

Both wood stoves and pellet stoves rely on a more traditional method of heating your space, however, a pellet stove is usually quieter and emits heat more consistently than traditional wood-burning stoves. Pellet stoves also produce even fewer emissions and ash compared to the wood stove, however, the traditional wood-burning stove continues to offer greater heating power.
