How to Troubleshoot an Acumen Fireplace Remote Control
If you have a standard Acumen fireplace remote control and you can't get it to work with your fireplace, watch our video above or use these simple troubleshooting steps to get it working again.
Step By Step Guide
1. Locate the Receiver Box
Most often, your receiver box will be located within the control cavity of your fireplace (seen in the image above). Check to make sure the wires are tightly secured to the terminals. If your fireplace and receiver box are both working properly, you should be able to slide the slider switch on the receiver box to the "On" position and your fireplace should turn on. If the fireplace does not ignite, you will need to either replace the nonworking remote control system or contact a gas plumber to further troubleshoot the fireplace.
2. Remove the Batteries
Remove the batteries from your remote control. If your receiver box is battery operated, remove those batteries, as well. If you have not replaced the batteries recently, corrosion may have formed. This corrosion can prevent the system from operating, and you may need to purchase a new remote control system.
3. Turn the Receiver Box to the Off Position
Once the batteries have been removed from your remote control and receiver box (if necessary), slide the receiver switch to the "Off" position.
4. Re-Insert the Batteries
Once the receiver box is in the off position, re-insert new, fully-charged batteries into the receiver box. Next, slide the receiver switch to the "Remote" position.
5. Re-insert Remote Batteries
After batteries have been placed back into the receiver box, insert new, fully-charged batteries into the remote control.
6. Press the On Button
Once the batters have been replaced in both units, press any button on the remote control. We typically press the on button so the unit will light immediately to indicate proper function.
7. Change the Dip-Switches
If the previous steps don't work, you can change the position of the dips switches on the back of the remote control to any position you like. Once the dip switches have been changed, repeat steps two through six.
Remotes with 110VAC Receiver Boxes
Acumen also makes remote control kits with 110VAC receiver boxes. If you're trying to troubleshoot that unit, simply remove the batteries from the remote and replace them back in and press the red power button on the 110VAC receiver. After that, press any button. Following these steps will get an Acumen remote control to work again.
